Watersheds create naturally bounded communities. Groundwork San Diego - Chollas Creek believes that when the health of the environment is at stake, political boundaries become arbitrary, while watershed boundaries are real.
To this end, Groundwork seeks to bring together the stakeholders of Chollas Creek, including those organizations and residents interested in helping to plan the future of the 32-mile natural waterway and drainage system. Only a stakeholder-driven water management process can accurately identify key watershed issues and priorities. These may include:
- Identifing land use opportunities for preserving open green space and habitat
- Creating a conceptual watershed management work plan
- Prioritizing restoration and maintenance needs
- Reducing flooding hazards
